Mobility Front Line Training Program
On May 15, 2008, The Savannah Area Tourism Leadership Council (TLC) launched a FREE downtown
transportation training certification program for the Savannah workforce. The Mobility Front
Line Training Program, features the new Downtown Transportation - 'dot'
- system and how it fits into the existing transportation options in the Historic and Convention
Districts of Savannah.
The courses, which feature a classroom presentation, a tour on a
'dot' Express Shuttle and an online certification examination,
last approximately three hours. Seating is limited and a reservation is required in advance. To
see a list of upcoming classes and to register online,

Keeping in mind that reducing vehicular congestion and encouraging the use of public transportation
will enhance the downtown experience, the TLC has worked closely with the Mobility Management Board
(MMB) and Savannah Technical College on the development of this comprehensive training program.
Upon completion, all successful participants receive a certificate and a
'dot' lapel pin symbolizing
knowledge of mobility options in downtown Savannah. Additionally, everyone receives a quick reference
card and reference manual in a binder with pertinent course materials. The reference manual is updated
regularly. Click here for a downloadable PDF of the most current version of the Mobility Front Line
Training reference manual.
"We are enthused to have professors from Savannah Tech conducting the training," says Marti Barrow,
TLC Executive Director. "Their strong education techniques will enable us to reach the masses with
a consistent message. We hope to train all employees (line staff to mid-level management) in the
Historic District that are in contact with our visitors on a daily basis so they can best communicate
how to get around while spending time in our beautiful city!"
If it is difficult for you to attend one of the classes below, we will bring this training TO YOU - (and yes, it is still FREE!) if you can provide the following:
- a minimum of 15 people for the class
-
provide meeting space with a screen or large wall where the instructors can bring their laptop and projector for the classroom part of the class
- location within walking distance of a 'dot' stop
-
ability to facilitate your people taking the online exam within one week of the class on a computer at your property
